El Rincon Bantú

return to Inquiceweb Mainpage

This site is for those interested in all the Central African religions both there and in the diaspora. We welcome posters on Brazilian traditions such as Kimbanda and Candomble de Angola, on Jamaican Kumina, and on the Kongo derived traditions of North America variously called Rootwork or Hoodoo.

If you are interested in learning more about the history and roots of Congo religion, philosophy and metaphysics, there is an online course being offered which covers the history of Kongo and Angolan religions, and the origins of Kongo derived religions in the Americas. For more information email quimbisa@inquiceweb.com.

  Kiambote!

This is a general forum not specifically for initiates. It is a moderated site. All messages are reviewed before appearing so as to avoid disruptive and argumentative posts. This means that there will be a delay before your post appears. If you need help look to the documentation in the frame to the left of the page. Both "Getting Started" and "troubleshooting" links should tell you all you need to know. We are not a site for advertisements, so please do not post them. If you have a really good Bantu religious site, contact us and we will consider linkages.

The topic of discussion is Congo-derived religions throughout the world and more generally Bantu derived and influenced religions. This is not a site about Orisha although some Congo religions respect the Orisha. Keep that in mind. We do not host discussions on Orisha religion or Ocha. In the context of discussing Congo traditions that have incorporated Orisha it is accepted, but only within the context of such Congo derived practices. There are plenty of other sites for Ocha and Ifa, etc. If you do not know them we will be glad to direct you. Send me some email.

Please be more creative than to log in and say "I want to know about these traditions", or "Where can I get initiated?" or "Send me more information." Read and think first. Also, this isn't a location to solicit students or work. My advice to any who are contacted about this is to check in with us. If it doesn't come from an Inquiceweb.com email address, it doesn't represent InquiceWeb. Ntondele bene mpangi.
